Original Creation

Diversity shock

Voy Kay 06 Sep 2021

This creation is part of a more or less obligated project I was asked to do by my city. Let me explain.

'Tour elentrik' is the organization/project (google it up and see some great pictures) behind painting electric cabinets in the streets. They use professionals as well as local people for that. I'd sent them some examples of my work (mostly Bob Ross related) several weeks ago and they accepted me as possible artist. We discussed possible topics at a meeting half August (I had 5 in mind and 3 were accepted, so I could even make a choice) and some tips and trics were also learned there to paint with spray cans and acrylics.
I was requested to paint/show at first, the work (on a small canvas) that I want to paint on a (huge) cabinet. I will do a Bob Ross combination of two works, namely 'Desert glow' and 'Reflections of gold'. Some contrast was obligated as the main item, so I thought of those two in combination. If accepted, I can paint that creation last week of Sep, some 5 kilometers from where I live (without rain of course!). I must admit .... I am excited!!!

I will do the work in acrylics (oils NOT allowed) and unfortunately, I am limited to five colours only but of course, I can mix those on the palet to whatever color I like. Black is forbidden as is too much use of dark colours, which has to do with sun reflection (the cabinet could be overheated on a sunny day with too much dark colouring on it).
Some 10 local artists from my city are participating and I must admit, I saw some of their sketches and they are simply WAW!! Luckily, I am the only one doing a landscape (Bob Ross style) so hope I can stand out a little. Mid October, with the project finished, we will be invited at city hall for a small gathering with the mayor, the (local) press and some champaign!

This creation is thus a conjunction of 'Desert glow' (S22E11) and 'Reflections of gold' (S23E4). Canvas used was a budget 12"x16". Hardest part here was to keep my enthusiasm under control at all times!

Very awesome project! Thank you for sharing!

Well done.

Nice combination, made in acrylics or oil? When do you share a picture of the cabinet?

Dear Joha, this one has been done in oils (12"x16"). I merely made this one for the orginazation's jury, so that they could determine what I wish to create on the cabinet (some 4 feet by 4).
I will upload the creation on the cabinet (in acrylics) when it will be painted, near the end of September.
Till then!

Dear Flippergirl, thank you, I must admit I was surprised as well at first, yet the organization was familiar with Bob Ross and since I was the only one with a landscape .... I was easily selected!

And sure, when the creation will be painted (end of September (if it doesn't rain!!!)), I will upload several pictures.
Till then!!
